Youth Fellowship

The Youth Ministry program includes a fellowship group every Sunday,  evening from 7:00 -8:30 pm, September – May, for 6th – 12th graders. Students meet year-round for trips and special events that include visits to amusement parks, camping at Kirkwood in the Poconos, hayrides, and various mission activities monthly. All young people are invited and encouraged to participate. We believe that all young people should be nurtured and supported in the church so that they continue their journey with Christ Jesus.

“…The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his field; it is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”  Matthew 13:31-32

Youth Group News – West Virginia Mission Trip

The trip is scheduled for July 19 – 26, 2025. More adult leaders are still being sought for what promises to be a most memorable and rewarding experience. While it has been referred to as the “Youth Mission Trip,” it really is intergenerational. We are all in this together.

The group will be working with the West Virginia Ministry of Advocacy and Work Camps that was started by a Presbyterian pastor but has grown into an ecumenical movement. The mission is to repair the homes of low income families which often include the elderly. If you might be feeling the Spirit tugging on your heart to make a difference in someone’s life beyond your personal borders, please contact Pastor Su. Your gifts will be appreciated.

Confirmation Class for Eighth and Ninth Graders

A life of faith is one in which we wrestle with big questions, including questions of who we are, who God is, and how the two intersect and exist in, and with, each other. Reflection is necessary through-out life as we deal with this foundational search for meaning.

As an adolescent this search for meaning is particularly powerful. This time of growth and possibility brims with many important questions, including these: Where am I going? What is the world about? How do I know what to do with this moment and the time ahead of me?

Confirmation seeks to provide enough space to be able to ask these questions of God, of ourselves, of each other and of the church. Using scripture, our church creeds and history will be tools used to help grow in faith and come to a deeper understanding of what it means to personally be a follower of Jesus.

Class will be led by Pastor Su and begins in January. Please contact her if you have any questions or if you wish to have your youth join the class. Culmination of the course study will take place in May on Pentecost Sunday when those who wish will be confirmed and become a member of the Forest Grove congregation.
